DURWOOD A. PURSER

Durwood Audrey Purser, 65, of Route 2, died Sept. 2, 1995, in a Suffolk, Va. hospital.

A native of Craven Co., he was retired from the Civil Service. He was a member of Nansemond River Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Justice Purser; his father, Lonnie H. Purser of New Bern, N.C.; one daughter, Rebecca Gilsdorf of Virginia Beach; two sons, Charles H. Purser of Gates, N.C., and Jeffery A. Purser of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, William E. Purser of Newbern, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Purser Family Cemetery by the Rev. Bobby Williams. Visitation will be Monday at Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, from 7 to 9 p.m. and at other times at the residence.
