TEACHING VALUES

I am offended by a commercial for a private school currently being aired on a local radio station. A mother states that public schools cannot teach values like responsibility, respect and resourcefulness.

Of course public schools can do this. They work very hard at this task!

When students come from homes where these values have not been stressed, they present more of a challenge to the teacher; but to say that public schools cannot teach good character traits is a travesty.
