Regarding ``Amphibious Ducks unwelcome in park'' (letter, Aug. 12): One of the goals of Virginia Beach Ducks is to provide a fun, exciting and educational experience for the whole family. I believe this is accomplished by our narrated tour that highlights the history and points of interest of Virginia Beach, with special emphasis on Seashore State Park.
Our Ducks, which are converted World War II amphibious vehicles, are smaller than Virginia Beach trolleys, travel through the park at a slow rate of speed on the roadway and then enter the water by the Narrows Boat Ramp. Our tour captains pass along interesting information about the plant and animal life in the park as well as historical and ecological knowledge.
The type of tourist (and their tourist dollars) attracted by our Duck tours should be seen as desirable rather than intruders into the privacy of some locals. Seashore State Park is a real treasure to be enjoyed by all - Ducks included.
