George Robert Lewis, 58, of the 3800 block of W. Belvedere Ave., died Aug. 31, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Lewis was born in Norfolk and was a member of New Psalmist Baptist Church in Baltimore. He was a long distance truck driver and member of Teamster Union Local 557 APA.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Lewis; two daughters, Della Lewis and Reiguel Lewis, both of Baltimore; two stepdaughters, Patrica A. Davis of Norfolk and Michelle L. Davis of Baltimore; four stepsons, Staton L. Davis, Frank G. Davis, Eric Davis, all of Baltimore, and Lamont Davis of Portsmouth; a sister, Mary Taylor of Norfolk; four brothers, James M. Lewis, Linwood Lewis, Reginald Lewis and Curtis Lewis, all of Norfolk; three sisters-in-law, Hazel Lewis, Clara Lewis and Diane Flemming, all of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Flemming and Willie Flemming, both of Norfolk; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a dear friend, Ozelia Jefferson of Norfolk; best friend, June Barnett of Portsmouth; a close friend, Bill Harris of Baltimore; and a cousin, Raymond Vincent of Baltimore. He was predeceased by his mother, Sophronia Thomas and father, James M. Lewis Sr.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Serenity Funeral Home, Portsmouth, by Pastor Charles Bowens. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Baltimore. Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Family and friends will assemble at 819 Virginia Beach Blvd. in Norfolk at 11:15 a.m. for the processional to the chapel on Wednesday.
