One motorcyclist was killed and another injured Friday night when the driver of a pickup pulled out in front of their motorcycle, police said.
Both motorcyclists were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where one died, said Elizabeth Jones, a spokesman for the Chesapeake Police Department. Police have not released the name of either accident victim.
The driver of the truck, Whitney Poindexter of Chesapeake, was not injured. She was charged with failure to yield right of way, Jones said.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Portlock Road and Second Street. The motorcycle was westbound on Portlock as the truck traveled south on Second. Poindexter stopped at the stop sign, then proceeded into the intersection, Jones said.
The motorcycle driver tried to go around the truck but struck the side.
