A man was found dead at the steering wheel of a car in Huntersville early Monday. Police said he was shot to death.
Police received a report about 6:50 a.m. of a suspicious vehicle in the 1000 block of Barney St. When an officer arrived, he found a four-door Hyundai with a dead man sitting inside.
It was unclear when or where he had been shot, and police said they had no witnesses nor a motive.
Police have identified the man. They said he was stationed in Hampton Roads in the Navy, but his name was withheld until relatives could be notified.
The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's office for an examination.
