A 67-year-old Florida woman who was visiting her daughter in Chesapeake was killed Monday afternoon when the car she was in overturned after being sideswiped by a van.
The three-vehicle accident occurred about 12:55 p.m. in the 200 block of Cedar Road in front of the main library, police said.
Lurrell Almina Briscoe of Deltona, Fla., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her daughter, Rosalie M. Thompson of the 400 block of Appaloosa Trail, was taken to Chesapeake General Hospital.
Police said a van heading east on Cedar Road crossed the double line and sideswiped the car and another van.
Both vans came to a halt, but the sedan ran off the road and overturned.
