PHILIP B. PAUL SR.

Philip Brooke Paul Sr., 50, died Sunday, Sept. 3, 1995, when he was stricken at home.

He was born March 19, 1945, in Portsmouth, Va., and was the son of Robert Brooke and Thelma Leigh Hewitt Paul. He was a 1964 graduate of Matthew Fontaine Maury High School in Norfolk. He graduated Suma Cum Laude in 1977 with an Associates Degree in Business Administration from KCC and he also graduated Cum Laude in 1980 from WMU with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He also received a Masters Degree in Accounting from WMU.

He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and received his basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas. He was then stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Fairbanks, Alaska until 1966. From 1966 to December of 1969, he was stationed at the AFB at Ft. Custer. When that base closed he was transferred to Bedford, Va. During his Air Force career, he was an electronics maintenance quality control specialist. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1972. He then came back to Battle Creek and worked for the Clark Equipment Co. After that, he worked as an accountant at the B.C. Veterans Administration Hospital.

He currently was employed at the Defense Logistics Center in Battle Creek as a Program Analyst. He was a former member of the United Commercial Travelers and former member of the Air Force Sergeant's Association. He coached softball at Urbandale Elementary School and was a den leader for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He married the former Patricia Emma Oversmith, on Oct. 12, 1968, in Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, David Paul, in 1992.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Philip Brooke Paul Jr. and Robert Lorin Paul, both of Battle Creek; and one sister, Susan Paul of Norfolk.

A visitation will be 10 a.m. today at Farley-Estes Funeral Home. The family will be present at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home by the Rev. David L. Morton. Military honors will be provided by the United War Veterans Council. Cremation will follow the services at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Histiocytosis Association.
