LUCY M. SMITH

Lucy Mae ``Gran'' Smith, 57, of the 3300 block of Colonial Ave., died Sept. 1, 1995, in Portsmouth General Hospital.

Mrs. Smith, the widower of Jesse Smith, was a retired domestic worker. She was born in Emporia, Va., and was a member of Smyrna Church of Christ Holy Disciples, Norfolk. She was on the usher board, and was also a member of Enoch Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Lynette Smith, Geneva Laverne Smith and Joanna Smith, all of Norfolk; four sons, Jesse Bernard Smith Jr., Amos Lee Smith, Carl Eugene Smith and Rodney Smith, all of Norfolk; three sisters, Roxie Anna Clair and Jeannie Epps, both of New York, and Mozelle E. Moore of Norfolk; two brothers, James Eddie Epps of St. Pete, Fla., and Roskar Epps of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Karen Spence, for her years of loving care; two daughters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Smyrna Church of Christ Holy Disciples, 741 Marshall Ave., Norfolk, by the Rev. Mrs. Mary Holloway with Pastor Sue Saunders and Rev. Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery, Emporia. The family will receive friends and relatives at 1515 Fleetwood Ave., and will assemble there for the procession to the church at 10 a.m. Viewing will be at E.A. Hughes Funeral Home. The wake will be at 1515 Fleetwood Ave. from 2 to 10 p.m. Friday.
