Alva M. ``Penny'' Fitzgerald, 68, of the 5100 block of Sammy St., went to be with the Lord Sept. 5, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Fitzgerald, former co-owner of Ja-Pen's Kennels and Pet Shop, was a machine operator for Eagle Embroidery. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and was a resident of Virginia Beach for 35 years.
Survivors include her husband, John W. ``Jack'' Fitzgerald; four daughters, Connie Jean Jones of Virginia Beach, Deborah Victoria Borte and her husband, Wade, of Raleigh, N.C., Kelly Babotte Arcera and her husband, Anthony, of Elizabeth City, Christine Leigh Retamozo and her husband, Mike, of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Justin Jones, both of Virginia Beach, Troy Woodruff and Heather Wilkerson, both of Norfolk; two great-grandchildren, Briana Wilkerson of Norfolk, Alina Rios of Dallas, Texas. She was predeceased by a grandson, Nathan Hall.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Vincent Lasciale. Family will receive friends following the service at the home of Jean Jones, 4733 Eldon Court, Kempsville Lakes, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Sort 8400, 1275 York Ave., New York, N.Y. 10131-0112.
