EDGAR R. DILDAY

Edgar Ray Dilday, 76, of the 500 block of Akron Ave., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995, in his residence.

Mrs. Dilday was born in Chowan County, N.C. He was the son of the late Thomas J. and Sarah Copeland Dilday. He retired from the U.S. Naval Base after 24 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Nixon Dilday; his daughter, Brenda O'Dey of Chesapeake; his four sons, Joseph Ray Dilday of Portsmouth, Danny R. Dilday of Newark, Del., Kenneth H. Dilday of Greenville, N.C., and Larry W. Dilday of Chesapeake; one sister, Ruth Foster of Baltimore, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 1995, in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, with the Rev. Donald W. O'Dey officiating. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The family suggests that flowers be omitted.
