BUDGET DIRECTOR LEAVING

C.L. ``Lee'' Acors, budget director for the city of Suffolk, has resigned to become director of finance for Norfolk's Nauticus.

Acors, whose responsibilities and title changed from director of finance to budget director in July, will leave the city Sept. 15.

He will be replaced by M. Christine Ledford, 32, director of budget and finance for Isle of Wight County and a former staffer for Suffolk City Manager Myles E. Standish.

She has worked in Isle of Wight since 1992 and was previously a public accountant in Newport News.

Ledford was chosen from among 30 candidates for Acors' job. She will begin work in Suffolk the first week of October.

Ledford is a 1985 graduate of Christopher Newport College with a bachelor of science in accounting. She has been married for nine years and has a 3-year-old son.

She will begin working for $56,000 a year, she said.

``I'm looking forward to going,'' she said. ``I think it's a good opportunity.''

Acors came to Suffolk in 1992 after working as the enterprise controller for the Norfolk Department of Utilities. He was the first to have the title of director of finance in Suffolk. by CNB
