A Chesapeake truck driver was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with shooting at a truck that passed him on Virginia Route 10.
Roger Lee Evans of the 600 block of Pine Bend was charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle about 2 p.m. Evans, who was pulling a flatbed trailer, fired a large-caliber pistol at a truck operated by James M. Quarles of the 1600 block of Catalina Drive, Richmond, just after Quarles passed him and again later when the trucks reached U.S. Route 58, police said.
Evans fired because he felt Quarles had cut him off, police spokesman Mike Simpkins said.
Quarles, who was driving a tractor and tanker trailer, stopped at the Route 58 truck weighing station near Chesapeake and alerted a state trooper, who detained both vehicles until Suffolk police arrived.
