On Aug. 23 and 24, Arrowhead Elementary School's Adopt-A-School
partner, the amphibious ship Gunston Hall, sent personnel to paint
the school's gymnasium. The school system's maintenance plant
provided paint. Brushes, rollers and pans were donated by another
partner, Neighborhood Home Center. Among the 25 shipmates from the
landing ship dock who did the honors were Seaman Apprentice Jim
Degeneffe, 22, above; and Petty Officer 3rd Class James Thomas, 27,
a mess specialist, below.
