BEATRICE C. WHITLEY

Beatrice Carter Whitley, 89, formerly of Nansemond Parkway, Driver, died Sept. 8, 1995, in a Suffolk nursing home.

Mrs. Whitley, the widow of Doctor Glover ``Doc'' Whitley, was a retired clerk from Arthur's General Store, Driver. She was a native of Rescue, Va., and was a member of Berea Christian Church, Suffolk.

Survivors include three daughters, Madeline W. Cooke and Mildred W. Parker, both of Lugoff, S.C., Annette W. Thompson of Virginia Beach; seven sons, Clarence C. Whitley of Pascagoula, Miss., Milton I. Whitley of Chesapeake, Robert H. Whitley of Duncan, Okla., William E. Whitley of Charleston, S.C., Paul M. Whitley of Norfolk, Ernest L. Whitley of Suffolk, N. Eugene Whitley of Virginia Beach; one sister, Anna Ross King of Raleigh, N.C.; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George G. Whitley.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Berea Christian Church, by the Rev. James R. Cress. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, and other times at 4861 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk. Contributions may be made to Berea Christian Church.
