VIRGINIA BEACH

On Friday, Sept. 1, about 1:30 a.m., the fire department was called to Princess Anne High School in the 4400 block of Virginia Beach Blvd. for a three-alarm fire.

The fire was extinguished after several hours but caused more than $3 million damage.

Arson investigators have determined that someone broke into the back of the school and set the fire.

CHESAPEAKE

On Aug. 28, at about 7:15 a.m., Joseph Pruden, 22, was walking to his mother's house in the 3100 block of Welcome Road when he was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette.

When Pruden did not give the man a cigarette, the man pulled out a gun and shot Pruden in the chest.

The suspect is described as black, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 160 pounds. He had a 3-inch long goatee, dreadlocks and wore several gold chains around his neck. He was wearing a green multi-colored shirt and green sweatpants.

SUFFOLK

The Partners Restaurant in the 700 block of N. Main St. has been broken into several times this year.

The latest incident occurred Aug. 31 when thieves entered the building by breaking through a wall.

Once inside, they vandalized the business and removed money from the jukebox, pool table, and a small amount of currency from the office.

Investigators suspect the same persons may be involved in all of the burglaries.

Four hours later, the same suspect attempted to rob a 57-year-old man sitting in his car at the 7-Eleven store in the 1700 block of N. Mallory St.
