FAULKNER BETTER MAN THAN CLINTON

I am sick to death of reading what President Clinton's speech writers have him saying about the 50th commemoration of V-J Day! I think he's got a lot of nerve ``calling on Americans to renew an era that changed the nation, exemplified its spirit and reshaped the globe'' while excusing himself from doing the same.

When is this country going to start listening to statesman who lead us from the front instead of politicians who whip us from behind? Mr. Clinton should know that actions speak louder than words, and his actions have proved where his spirit - or lack of spirit - lies.

I have deep feelings of patriotism and pride in my country, and I showed that pride by volunteering my time and service in the uniform of the Women's Army Corps. Anyone who has worn a service uniform with honor has already done more for this country than President Clinton.

I thank God we still have institutions like VMI, The Citadel and West Point, which are dedicated to turning out whole men, qualified leaders and gentlemen, because that is the greatest shortage we have in this country. Even Shannon Faulkner is a better man than President Clinton, in my opinion, because she didn't run and hide. At least she tried.
