Van Henry Spivey, 80, of the 1200 block of Earle Ave., died Sept. 12, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. Spivey, a retired foreman from Borden Chemical Company, was born in South Norfolk. He was a charter member of Lindale Church of Christ, Chesapeake. Mr. Spivey was a U.S. Marine veteran and served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Louise Winslow Spivey; one daughter, Phyllis Marlene Rodgers of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Rodney Lee Rodgers and Robin Lynn Rodgers, both of Chesapeake; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lindale Church of Christ, by the Rev. David Vaughan. Burial will be in the Up River Friends Cemetery in Perquimans County, N.C., at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 6 to 7 p.m. today, and at the residence at all other times. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lindale Church of Christ.
