Barbara Belardo Pretlow, 60, of the 1000 block of Vista St., died Sept. 10, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center.
Mrs. Pretlow, a native of Charleston, S.C., was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was a former Portsmouth school teacher and a member of the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. She was a dedicated member of the Women's Club and the Bereavement Committee for many years.
Survivors include her beloved husband, R. Neil Pretlow Sr.; three sons, Robert N. Pretlow Jr. of Virginia Beach, Anthony K. Pretlow of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Jose H. Pretlow of New York, N.Y.; two daughters, Lynette P. James of Virginia Beach, and Barbara P. Young of Columbus, Ohio; her mother, Charlotte E. Belardo of Norfolk; one brother, Jose H. Belardo Jr. of Chesapeake; and four sisters, Isadora Reid of Dayton, Ohio, Joan B. Parson and Gloria B. Neal, both of Chesapeake, and Rosetta B. Beslow of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Jose H. Belardo Sr.
A Christian wake will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Hale Funeral Home, Norfolk. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at noon on Friday in the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, by the Rev. Walter C. Barrett Jr. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 5208 Balboa Drive, Virginia Beach, after 5 p.m. today, and after 6 p.m. Friday.
