Your article on the College of William and Mary having the highest SAT scores in the state completely misses the essence of education.
Our country was dedicated to mass rather than class education. Over the years, in pursuit of the above, we began to engender and employ great, noble and enlightening educators as the heads of our institutions of learning. They knew too well the necessity of making room for our ``C'' students, and they did. As a result we flourished as a nation.
However, with the advent of the computer, human judgment and understanding have seemingly gone out the window. Thus, we have seen our industrial complex suffer, our security suffer and our educational system suffer.
General Motors went from No. 1 to No. 3; we no longer speak to each other with a cordial ``Yes, sir'' but rather with a curt ``Yeah'' or ``Huh?''
