The annual North Beach Sun Trash Festival and Big Sweep '95 will be held Saturday along Outer Banks beaches.
Trash pick-up from Carova through Oregon Inlet will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Participants are invited to get free trash bags from any of 15 checkpoints, go to their favorite beach access area, and clean the beach of debris. When full trash bags are returned to the checkpoints, participants will be given free tickets to the afternoon Trash Festival.
A pig pickin' and live music from Outer Banks bands The Neurocktix and Wild Hearts will begin at 3 p.m. at the Bermuda Greens & Rundown Cafe, just off the U.S. Route 158 bypass.
Trash bags will be distributed at Carova, the Corolla Fire Station, Duck Fire Station, parking lot at Duck Road and Route 12, Kitty Hawk Fishing Pier, bathhouse at milepost 4, Kmart parking lot, bathhouse at milepost 8, Kelly's Restaurant, bathhouse at milepost 12, Outer Banks Mall parking lot, Jockey's Ridge State Park office, National Park Service entrance at Whalebone Junction, and at Oregon Inlet fishing center.
