STEPHEN W. EDWARDS

Rev. Stephen Wesley Edwards, 43, died Sept. 14, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital, after a long illness.

A native of Courtland, he was the son of Warren E. and Mildred Chappell Edwards of Virginia Beach. After serving in the Army, he graduated from Bluefield College. He pastored churches in Florida, Virginia and North Carolina.

Surviving besides his parents are his wife, Donna Napier Edwards; two sons, Jonathan Wesley Edwards and Stephen Daniel Edwards, all of Elizabeth City; one brother, Brigadier General Warren Chappell Edwards of Korea and his wife, Diane; two sisters, Catherine Edwards Sutton and her husband, Jack of Greensboro, N.C., and Olivia Edwards Bullock of Wilson, N.C.; and three nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Courtland Baptist Church by Dr. Gary Powell of Courtland Baptist Church and Dr. Kelly Burris of Kempsville Baptist Church. The burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. The family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and at the home of the parents at 5464 Peggy Circle, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or church of your choice.
