I have been silent too long! I am a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant, middle-class (barely!) person who must speak out against those who bomb buildings because of their hatred of government, who deface temples because of the hatred of the Jewish religion, and who distribute nasty memos (unsigned of course) about great men like Arthur Ashe.
Enough already!
No group of people is responsible for the haters' problem. No immigrant has taken their jobs. No person of any other race has advanced at their expense. The haters are responsible for their own successes and failures. When the haters try to blame their disappointment on groups of people, they look small and, quite frankly, stupid.
Those who don't like things should get involved, lend a hand, read a good book, write a letter and sign it. People who resort to illegal and immoral tactics to promote their philosophies are promoting anarchy.
My heritage is a proud one. My grandfather stood up in church and told the men who had invited him to join the Ku Klux Klan that he was publicly declining their offer because he liked to take care of his business in the light of day with his face showing.
Those who can't show their face and accept responsibilities for their actions maybe should reconsider their actions.
