EDITH M. DUNCAN

Edith McKissack Duncan, 79, of the 5000 block of Ashforth Court, died Sept. 13, 1995, in Norfolk.

She was a retired payroll clerk for the Naval Base, Norfolk. She was also a retired substitute teacher, and homebound teacher, for the Norfolk Public School System. She was a native of Carrabelle, Fla., and was the widow of Isaac Maurice ``Bud'' Duncan Sr. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Rock Church, in Virginia Beach, and she was a volunteer for Operation Blessing.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy G. Duncan of Virginia Beach; one son, Isaac M. ``Maury'' Duncan Jr. of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Gem Newman of Tallahassee, Fla., Jewel Carpenter of San Diego, Calif., and Ruth Byers of Ft. Worth, Texas; one brother, Byron McKissack of Tulsa, Okla.; and three granddaughters, Amy, Michelle, and Rebecca.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. James Spruill and Mr. Gary Sigler in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Operation Blessing, CBN, 977 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, 23464.
