Eric L. Schroeder, 23, of Virginia Beach, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced Thursday to 50 years in prison.
Schroeder was convicted of killing Jamie J. Stehlin, 20, in May 1994.
Co-defendant Loren Neal Shelby, 22, testified that he and Schroeder beat Stehlin to death with a metal pipe, hid his body under a roommate's bed, then moved the body to a nearby shed.
Stehlin's body, wrapped in a sheet, was found by police in a plywood storage shed outside a cottage in the 500 block of 16th St. Shelby pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to murder and robbery. He has not been sentenced.
