An unveiling of a historic marker commemorating the life of Justice James Iredell will take place in Edenton Thursday, Sept. 28, at 3 p.m. on the grounds of the Iredell House.
The marker is dedicated to the charter members of the Edenton Tea Party Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. These charter members saved Justice Iredell's home from destruction in 1948.
The Iredell House historic marker was approved by the Historian General of the DAR in Washington, the director of the North Carolina Division of Archives and History, and the North Carolina Historical Commission.
Mrs. William Nixon, past regent of the Edenton Tea Party, and David Williams, a descendant of Justice Iredell, will unveil the marker.
A reception on the grounds follows the ceremony. by CNB
