REMEMBER WHEN?

ILLUSTRATION: Staff photo by JIM WALKER

It was January 1987 when the girls basketball game between Manor and

Churchland was stopped and teammates mobbed Samantha Thompson,

center, after she became the first Mustangs girl player since Anita

Cooper, five years earlier, to score 1,000 points. Thompson went on

to set a school scoring record and become the third all-time leading

girls scorer in Portsmouth schools.
