F. Lorraine Smith, 75, retired manager of the Chas. G. Stott Co. store on K Street, Washington, D.C., died of cancer on Sept. 15, 1995.
She lived in Kitty Hawk. Mrs. Smith was born in Milam County, Texas, and came to Washington, where she worked for Chas. G. Stott Co. for 36 years. She was a member and past president of the L'enfant Business and Professional Womens Club; member and past president of the Soroptimist Club of Washington; member and past area director of the Administrative Management Society; Business Woman of the Year in the D.C. area in 1958; and a member of the House Committee of the Duck Woods Country Club.
Her first husband, Clifford Werlla, died in 1968. Survivors include her husband, Joseph P. Smith Jr.; a daughter, Shirley Harrison; two granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one great-step-grandchild; and a host of friends and relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Kitty Hawk United Methodist Church in Kitty Hawk, Monday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Brad Bradshaw. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice. Twiford Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is handling arrangements.
