CAROLYN E. ROLLER

Carolyn E. Roller, 104, a native and former resident of Weyers Cave, died Friday, Sept. 15, 1995, at Westminister Canterbury in Virginia Beach, where she had been a resident for the past 12 years.

A daughter of the late George S. and Caroline Carpenter Roller, she was born on June 25, 1891, at Weyers Cave. She attended Hood College, Frederick, Md., and graduated from the John's Hopkins University, School of Nursing in 1916.

Miss Roller was a Real Daughter of The Turner Ashby Chapter, ``United Daughters of The Confederacy'', and was a 67-year member of The Col. Thomas Hughart Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was the proud recipient of the Triple Cross Metal, given to her because she was part of a family who served in three wars, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War I.

She served overseas in France with U.S. Army Nurses Corp. in World War I, and served as an Advisory Nurse from 1933 to 1957 in the Virginia State Health Dept. She was a member of Eastern Shore Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach.

She is survived by one nephew; two great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.

A graveside service will be held at 2p.m Monday in St. Paul's Cemetery at Weyers Cave with the Rev. W.L. Mingebier officiating. The Lindsey Weyers Cave Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
