G. Emory Rountree, 83, of Route 1, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 1995, in his home.
Mr. Rountree was born in Gates County. The son of the late Raleigh and Mrs. Lizzie Stallings Rountree, he was a retired farmer and produce dealer at the Portsmouth Farmer's Market. A member of Damascus Christian Church, he had been a member of the Sunbury Ruritan Club for over 50 years.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Evelyn White Rountree; three daughters, Novella Spivey and her husband Fred of Sunbury, Bessie Hinton and her husband Phil of Sunbury, Nancy McMurdy and her husband Don of Newport News, Va.; one sister, Magenta Rountree of Charlotte; one brother, Paul Rountree of Sunbury; and five grandchildren, Fred Allen Spivey, Elizabeth Spivey, Melinda Spivey, Raymond McMurdy and Heather Hinton.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Miller Funeral Home in Gatesville.
