Grandparents Day is listed on the calendar for the second Sunday of September, but I've noticed over some years that this day has not been observed.
Most grandparents don't need gifts, just a visit, phone call or a time together to reminisce and recall good times. I'm glad that merchants and gift shops haven't pushed buying gifts for grandparents, for we've already had years of getting gifts; love and caring are all that is needed.
Many grandparents have reared grandchildren; others have enjoyed, spoiled and baby-sat grandchildren so parents could enjoy a vacation.
Five of my eight grandchildren came Sept. 10 and brought a meal with them. We ate together and visited and talked about good times we had had over the years. This was a most loving thing for them to do, for they're busy with their jobs or going to school.
