For 40 years Young Audiences of Virginia has been saying that through the arts the journey and the learning are endless. What better proof is needed than Cheryl Ball's ``Guy Taylor, a saint of the sax, goes marching in'' (Daily Break, Sept. 12)?
Ms. Ball can still remember the pleasure of being a 7-year-old enjoying and learning about jazz when Young Audiences' American Jazz Ensemble came to Kempsville Elementary School. She, like hundreds of thousands of other children, has squealed with joy at Guy Taylor and the other 65 talented musicians, dancers, actors, storytellers and visual artists who fan out across the state each year bringing almost 1,200 performances, workshops and residencies to schools, libraries and youth organizations.
With passion and vision, Young Audiences creates endless possibilities for the immersion and infusion of the arts in all academic learning. For the arts will help us drive our much-needed education reform. Therefore, let us all be arts advocates and let our rallying cry be: All the arts for every child!
