Jessie R. James, of the 800 block of Dwyer Road, died Sept. 15, 1995.
Mr. James was retired from the City of Virginia Beach after 35 years of service. He was born in Princess Anne County and was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Virginia Beach. He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys James; one daughter, Joyce Dial of Virginia Beach; five sisters, Mary Blount, Norma L. Mitchell, Cuttie Spence, Betty J. Ellis and Fay Miles, all of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Donaldson James and Jimmie James, both of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Sheryl Dial and Frank Dial, both of Virginia Beach; one aunt, Gussie James of Virginia Beach; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Mount Zion A.M.E. Church by the Rev. Larry Hinton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Community Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. The body will be in the church at 11 a.m.
