Henry Alonza Modlin, 72, formerly of Florida Avenue, died Sept. 17, 1995, in Washington, N.C.
Mr. Modlin, a superintendent at Metro Machine, retired in 1985. He was a native of Beaufort County, N.C. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the VFW Post in Washington, N.C., and Love Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Grace L. Modlin; five daughters, Linda Daniel and Sandra Robinson, both of Norfolk, Dianne Jones of Portsmouth, Connie Pritchard of Jacksonville, Fla., and Norma Thomke of Chesapeake; three sons, Teddy Modlin and Freddy Modlin, both of Portsmouth, and Joey Modlin of Jackson, N.C.; one sister, Daisy Taylor of Jamesville, N.C.; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, and other times at 2308 Sterling Point Drive, Portsmouth.
