FRED L. THRASHER

Fred L. Thrasher, 75, of the 400 block of Patriot Lane, died Sept. 17, 1995, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mr. Thrasher was born in Norfolk and lived most of his life in Old Norfolk County. He was the son of the late Samuel H. Thrasher Sr. and Esther Williams Thrasher. Mr. Thrasher retired from Greenbrier Farms Nursery as a part owner, but remained on the board of directors. He was a U.S. Army (Air Corps) veteran of World War II. He was a member of South Norfolk Masonic Lodge (NU)339, A.F. & A.M., past patron of Friendship Chapter (NU)57, Order of the Eastern Star, and past associate guardian of Bethel (NU)12, International Order of Job's Daughters. Mr. Thrasher was a daily volunteer at Chesapeake General Hospital for the past eight years, Sept. 4, 1987, to Sept. 15, 1995, and had volunteered 14,414 hours.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara P. Thrasher; four daughters, Barbara Snipes of Norfolk, Patricia Arnold of Chesapeake, Kathryn Crittenden of Virginia Beach, and Robin Blair of Arlington, Texas; three sons, Vernon J. Hall Jr. of Virginia Beach, David L. Hall of West Chester, Pa., and Fred L. Thrasher Jr. of Richmond; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Aubrey C. Todd. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake General Hospital Auxiliary Memorial Fund or Chesapeake General Hospital Cancer Treatment Center, 736 N. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
