FALL FASHION

Fall is the fashion season where everything seems to come together. Leathers join forces with wools. Tweeds and plaids meet with little adversity. Furs (be they faux or real) appear again. The waist gets cinched, the scarf gets tied, the newest boots get laced. All the elements that greet the big chill are in motion once again.

Falling for fashion has never been so easy.

The conservative credo adapted by designers a year ago, has loosened. Watch for more fashion risks this fall especially with color. The presence of red, for example, a color usually associated with the most daring, seems hell bent on Camel steps in as the neutral that everyone can relate to. Add colors normally reserved for other seasons like hot pink, lime green and orange and you have a line-up that offers something for everyone.

And what about those modern classics? Most of the suits and sleeveless dresses today exude elegance and poise. The lines are sleek and the fabrics boarder on luxurious. The mood of the fifties has slipped in subtly, and is seen in many guises.

Finding clothing suitable for the work force means creating collections that adapt to a myriad of lifestyles and incomes. Women want to love how they look but wardrobes need to be ready-made, ready-to-wear. This year's fall fashion makes a convincing case as it tries to address the needs of all women.
