Helen Louise Burgess Dixon, 59, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 18, 1995. She died in Portsmouth.
Mrs. Dixon, the widow of James Otis Dixon Sr., was born in Camden County, N.C. She was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and a lifetime member of Happy Acres Gardens Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Wyman of Chesapeake, DeAnn Bickmore of Kingsland, Ga., and Carla O'Hara of Portsmouth; three sons, James Otis Dixon Jr., Wayne Dixon and Bryan Dixon, all of Chesapeake; her mother, Catherine Pate of Chesapeake; two sisters, Lois Allen and Shirley Moore, both of Chesapeake; eight grandchildren, Lisa, Melissa, Justin, Joel, Rachel, Preston, Haley and Kayla.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. John Yoast Jr. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
