ALICE B. EDMONDS

Alice Carey Bartlett Edmonds, 88, of the 700 block of Oak Grove Road, died Sept. 20, 1995, in Chesapeake.

Mrs. Edmonds retired from the Norfolk Public School System in 1971 where she had worked for over 22 years. She taught at Crossroads Elementary and Poplar Hall Elementary Schools. She was a native of Norfolk and was the widow of P. Lawrence Edmonds. She was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Edmonds was a graduate of James Madison University.

She is survived by two daughters, Gaye Edmonds and her husband Marvin Clements of Chesapeake, and Dail Edmonds and her husband William Jennings of Bryan, Texas; two sisters, Helen Talbott and Ann Leary, both of Poplar Branch, N.C.; one brother, Stephen Bartlett of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Wayne Clements and Brian Clements, both of Chesapeake, Stephen Clements of Suffolk, Christopher Jennings of Tyler, Texas, and Kit Jennings Schultz of College Station, Texas; and three great-grandsons Nicholas Clements of Chesapeake, Brady Schultz and Austin Schultz, both of College Station. She was a preceded in death by her parents, Labon Wellons and Patsey Elizabeth Butler Bartlett; sister, Jean Rosier; and brothers, Labon Bartlett Jr. and Robert Bartlett.

A funeral service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Bayside Presbyterian Church by Dr. Richard Keever. Burial is in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, today from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Bayside Presbyterian Church-Vision 3, or to The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughter.
