STEADMAN JONES

Steadman Jones, of the 2600 block of Cedar Road, died on Sept. 20, 1995, in a local hospital.

He worked as a supervisor for 33 years for the Naval Public Works until he retired. He was a native of Norfolk and was a member of Queen Street Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge, Prince Hall.

He is survived by one son, Hampton T. Jones of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Hampton T. Jones Jr. and Terry A. Jones, both of Chesapeake, and Steadman V. Jones of Virginia Beach; one great-granddaughter, Glennis D. Carter of Columbus, Ga.; and one great-great-grandson.

A funeral service will be conducted noon Saturday by the Rev. Peter Wherry in Queen Street Baptist Church. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be taken to church at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Personal photo
