NEWSPAPER BOXES STOLEN

Police are asking for help in solving the theft of about 12 newspaper boxes from outdoor locations in Chesapeake and Portsmouth since the middle of last week.

The boxes have been taken from the front of restaurants, convenience stores, drug stores and apartment complexes.

Most of the boxes stolen are owned by The Virginian-Pilot, but others owned by the Daily Press in Newport News also have been stolen. Several locations are in Churchland, including the Farmco store on West Norfolk Road, the Wilco store on Western Branch Boulevard, the Waffle Town USA restaurant on Western Branch Boulevard and the Revco store in the Poplar Hill Shopping Center.

A box outside the Family Dollar store on George Washington Highway also was stolen.
