ROBERT A. JOHNSON

Robert Arthur ``Pop'' Johnson, 66, of the 100 block of Smith Ave., died Sept. 22, 1995, in his residence.

Mr. Johnson was a native of Worcester, Mass. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant, after 26 years of honorable service. He was a member of Simonsdale Presbyterian Church and its choir. He was actively involved in the Olive Branch Youth Sports and other youth activities, DAV Chapter (NU)22, VFW Post 9723, Okinawa, Japan, Simonsdale Civic Club, Monday Morning Fellowship, and he worked as a volunteer in the VA Hospital in Hampton.

Survivors include his wife, Setsuko ``Sue'' O. Johnson; two daughters, Catherine L. Ingle and Ruth A. Suter; two sons, Robert G. Johnson and James ``JJ'' Johnson; one sister, Lillian Davenport; two brothers, Charles Johnson and Thomas Johnson; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Simonsdale Presbyterian Church with Military honors by the Rev. Matt Matthews. At his request, Mr. Johnson's body will be cremated following the service. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
