Genevieve Downey Whitehead, 89, of the 800 block of Biltmore Drive, died Sept. 22, 1995, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Whitehead was a native of Norfolk. She was the beloved wife of the late Horwood R. Whitehead. Mrs. Whitehead was a former member of The Christian Temple of Norfolk where she taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. At the time of her death she was a member of Bay View United Church of Christ. For many years she served Mobile Meals in Norfolk.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine H. Buck; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, 1995, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, by the Rev. Dick Prince and the Rev. Larry Shoaf. There will be a private burial at a later date. The family will greet friends at the funeral home following the service.
