R. MARION RIDDICK III

Rufus Marion Riddick III, 82, of Route 1, died Friday morning, Sept. 22, 1995, in Albemarle Hospital.

A native of Gates County, he was the son of the late R.M. Riddick Jr. and Dora Taylor Riddick. He retired as a senior master sargeant after 22 years service in the U.S. Air Force. Later he was the director of the Title I Program for the Perquimans County School System. He was a member of Hertford United Methodist Church and American Legion Post (NU)126.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Stokes Riddick; a daughter, Judith S. Call of Hampton, and her husband, Edward K. Call; two sons, Rufus M. Riddick IV of Arlington, Va., and Wayne T. Riddick of Arden Hills, Minn.; a brother, C. Robert Riddick of Hertford; and a grandson, Christopher S. Tarrant of Charleston, S.C.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Cedar Wood Cemetery with the Rev. Jon Strother officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Langley Air Force honor detail. Swindell Funeral Home is in charge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hertford United Methodist Church, 207 West Market St., Hertford, N.C. 27944, or the Perquimans County Chapter, American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 156, Hertford, N.C. 27944.
