SLAYER SENTENCED

A Circuit Court judge sentenced a 22-year-old man Friday to 29 years for killing a Norfolk State University student and wounding another woman last year.

Aaron Hines of the 400 block of Ivy Crescent was convicted last month of second-degree murder, malicious wounding and two firearms charges in the slaying June 25, 1994, of 18-year-old NSU freshman Lakisha Forrest and shooting of 21-year-old Cotrina Young.

Forrest and Young were shot as they were looking out of the window of a friend's apartment. The women were standing side by side when a bullet from Hines' gun pierced Young's right cheek and entered Forrest's head before lodging in a wall.
