D.J. Jordan ran for 213 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-clincher with 5:59 remaining, to lead Atlantic Shores to a 21-13 victory over Catholic on Friday.
The host Crusaders lost 35 seconds after Jordan's second touchdown, when the timekeeper allowed the clock to continue to run during the celebration.
``I said something, `Why didn't you stop the clock,' '' said Catholic coach John O'Hara. ``The clock didn't stop for whatever reason, and you can't get it back.''
The 35 seconds proved crucial as the Crusaders (1-2) drove into Atlantic Shores territory and faced a fourth-and-1 from the Seahawks 29. Quarterback Byron Whitehead hurriedly threw an interception to Marcus Dodson with seven seconds left, sealing the game.
Atlantic Shores (3-1) converted two Catholic turnovers into touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead. Jordan scored on a 3-yard run, and quarterback Jonathan McDermott hooked up with Jon Parr on a 4-yard scoring toss.
Whitehead, who was 8 of 16 for 149 yards, then threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to Marty White to make it 14-7 at the half, and Derek Hardy had a 23-yard third-quarter touchdown run. But the Crusaders failed to tie when they mishandled the snap on the conversion. by CNB
