CHESAPEAKE CARES ABOUT ENVIRONMENT?

One day recently I was channel surfing and happened upon Channel 23's Chesapeake Magazine show. It was discussing the Chesapeake Inspection Department and Chesapeake's commitment to trees and the environment. I was so angry to see this kind of propaganda on television.

If the city is so concerned about trees and the environment, why are so many trees being cut down in the name of progress? When the land was cleared for the building going on in Greenbrier, did anyone remember that all sorts of baby animals were living in this area?

Why was springtime picked for clearing the land? Think of all the rabbits, squirrels, foxes, possums, deer and other creatures, including birds, that lost their lives in the name of ``progress.''

A baby deer was found wandering on Volvo Parkway among some dead deer as late as August of this year. Now a wildlife rehabilitator and a local veterinarian will try to save this precious little life. Doesn't anyone care about nature anymore?

We moved to Chesapeake six years ago (to a home that was already here) to get out of the city. Now our children's schools are overcrowded, traffic is a nightmare and City Council doesn't seem to want to halt growth. Before our resources run out, we are moving out.

Anybody want to buy a house in Chesapeake?
