Creed Zack Shirley, 91, of the 300 block of Leonard Road, died Sept. 25, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
He was a native of Mena, Ark. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, C.W.O., after 32 years. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Portsmouth and he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary S. Swiney of Portsmouth; one son, James A. Shirley of Suffolk; two sisters, Mamie Jo Middleton and Loraine Kenady, both of Mena, Ark.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlawn Mausoleum Chapel by the Rev. T.M. Frye. Entombment is in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, tonight from 7 to 8 p.m.
