William M. ``Bill'' Alderson, 47, died at home with family and friends. Bill was born in Washington D.C. in 1948. He served eight years in the Navy after which he settled in the Norfolk area. Bill was employed by Hughes Haircraft as a hair designer; later in 1981 to co-own and manage his own hair salon in Hampton, ``Bogart's and Company.'' Bill was later to co-own ``Art Attack,'' and was employed at ``Fire and Ice'' restaurant. Bill's last employment was as a hair designer at ``Buck and Doe'' Beauty Salon. He was a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for heroism.
Survivors include his father, Kyle Alderson of Lanham, Md.; mother, Charlotte Bell of Oxon Hill, Md.; stepmother, Joyce Alderson Voigt of Riverdale, Md.; brothers, Mike and Jeff Alderson of Churchton, Md.; lifelong companion, Ronald Sutton. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, today and Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bill's memory to: The Southside ``Full Circle Hospice,'' 110 E. 24th St., Norfolk, Va. 23517 and on the Peninsula, to Butler Farm Road Animal Aid Society.
