Robert L. Stevenson, 72, of 12524 Pittsfield A, died Sept. 23, 1995.
He was a native of Cranston, R.I., and he was a Catholic. He was formerly of Norfolk, Va., until he moved to Tampa, Fla., in 1985. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy, where he worked for 22 years. Mr. Stevenson was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association (NU)60, and the Boy Scout Master Troop 25, Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Moryto Stevenson, and father, Guy Stevenson.
He is survived by his wife, Winifred E. Stevenson; two daughters, Judy Joyner of Virginia Beach, and Janet Moore of Norfolk; five sons, Robert L. Stevenson Jr. and Randall J. Stevenson, both of Chesapeake, Paul A. Stevenson of Portsmouth, and James M.Stevenson of Monterey, Va., and Richard J. Stevenson, of Suffolk; one sister, Barbara Milburn of Downey, Calif.; one brother, Sam Grayson of Cumberland, R.I.; twenty-one grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Garland Hines in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach. The family will remain in the funeral home Wednesday evening until 8:30 p.m.
