John Raymond ``Bill'' Dawson, 81, of the 1000 block of W. 48th St., died on Sept. 25, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Dawson was born in Bertie County, N.C., the son of William George and Pattie Hoggard Dawson. He was a Baptist and resided in Norfolk for more than 65 years. He was retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He also managed the service departments of several automobile dealerships in Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Daugherty Dawson; his daughter, Shirley Dawson Johnson; three grandchildren, Susan Johnson Baskerville, Elizabeth Lee Johnson and E. Lee Johnson Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Baskerville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Terry Beck. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m.
